At Halstead Bead, we are developing the "Beading up a Storm Network" to assist those in
the industry who have lost their livelihoods because of Hurricane Katrina. Bead shops,
jewelry stores and design studios in the region have been wiped off the map or suffered
great losses of inventory, supplies and sales. Moreover, many family businesses in the
zone depend entirely on tourist traffic that may not return for a year or more.

One of the best ways to help those in crisis is to help them find gainful employment once again.
To that end, we are establishing a network to help victims of Katrina in the trade to get in touch
with industry buyers around the nation. If you are a victim of the storm who relied on the bead
or jewelry trade for your livelihood, please get in touch with us as soon as possible. We are not
asking for any monetary donations. We are only trying to help those in need make connections with
business contacts around the country.
If you own a bead or jewelry shop or an online business, please consider lending a hand. If you
can carry a small line of their designs in your store, you can help them rebuild their lives. Or,
if you have any other work these individuals could do remotely such as product assembly or packaging
please let us know. To get involved please email the below network address. This is a great opportunity
for you to have real impact on the futures of some affected families.
