Awards Season Jewelry Trends

Award season is in full swing so it is a great time to take the pulse of the fashion world and check up on jewelry trends. Here are standouts from the recent Golden Globes and SAG Awards. Remember, The Grammys and The Oscars are still right around the corner so stay tuned for more dazzling jewelry!

1. Bangles, bracelets and cuffs

Arm candy still rules the world of baubles. The biggest fashion risks are being taken on bold designs and colorful stones on a multitude of stacked bracelets. Mix colors, textures, sizes and shapes in the same ensemble for maximum impact.

2. Contrasting colored stones

The bold emerald earring trend expanded to include turquoise as stars walked the red carpet in neutral or black gowns with bright pops of blue and green colored stone jewels.  The striking contrast is glamorous and eye-catching.

3. Statement necklaces

Most necklines have been bare this season but those who do choose to wear necklaces go bold. Statement necklaces include striking bibs and collar chokers in flashy metallics or bright colors.

4. Dangles

Thank goodness the plain diamond earring stud trend is over! Earrings have been long and large with sparkling chandelier styles in a range of colors. Many stars are also going for colored stones instead of traditional diamonds.

5. Color and texture trends

Fashion trends at the award shows have showcased new color darlings including barely blush, dove grey and bright raspberry pink. However, coordinating jewelry is not necessarily required as fashion embraces the possibilities of contrasting accessories. Texture possibilities are similarly wide as lace overlay and detailed beadwork gowns come back into style again. Jewelry designs are free to embrace opulence and femininity once again after a long dry spell of conservatism. Hooray!
