9 piece Jewelry Soldering Tools & Supplies Kit, 4.8 lbs: Tripod with mesh, Magnesia block, Two tweezers, Flux, Sparex pickling compound, copper tongs, medium silver solder and Micro-Flame Torch. Dim weight: 12 lbs.

Maybe you watched something online, saw a piece in a magazine that you’d like to make or took a metalsmithing class at a jewelry studio that piqued your interest, whatever route you took that led you to want to pick up a torch and begin to solder, we have the soldering kit for you. Learning this technique will open so many more possibilities to your jewelry making designs, and a lot of people are hesitant because of the torch but if you read enough material or watch a few instructional videos you can quickly get past the fear and begin to enjoy this amazing tool.

Our 9 piece kit comes with a small electric Micro-flame torch (you will not need to use a lighter or match to ignite it), and the flame can be adjusted from a small precision flame to a large flame. The kit also comes with two tweezers, Handy flux, Sparex pickling compound, copper tongs, medium silver solder plus a tripod with a steel mesh screen and a magnesia block both of which you can solder on. Don’t worry if the Handy Flux dries out, just add a touch of water and mix it together to soften the flux back up.

To get started, add water to a bowl or a crockpot and drop in a tiny amount of pickling solution (never use this pickling bowl or crockpot to cook in again. Pickle is a mild acid so find an old bowl or crockpot and designate it for pickle only! ). Add one more bowl of water to quench your piece in after pickling. Besides the two bowls you’ll also need a can of butane, which can be found at any hardware store. Please make sure you educate yourself on a proper studio set-up and soldering station before beginning to solder, once you have a safe set-up you’ll start soldering in no time. Our Halstead Jewelry Blog is full of articles, videos and how-to’s to get you started. I would start with 5 Steps to Start Silver Soldering. Have fun!
